This is an outline of the costs that you can expect to have during the surrogacy process. This estimate DOES NOT include expenses associated with IVF screening exams & labwork, IVF procudures, or cycle medications. This estimate also does not include and fees associated with the use of donor eggs, sperm, or embryos.
In order to keep it simple, there are many specific charges included in each estimated amount below. These are general estimates, as the exact charges will vary depending on the rates of the attorneys, physicians, specialists, and surrogate that you select.

Agency Retainer: $1,000
(Payable prior to receiving surrogate profiles)
Initial “Administrative” Expenses: $12,000 - $15,000
(Deposit due to escrow upon selection of surrogate)

Surrogate Compensation: $24,000 - $26,000 Minimum
(Included in main escrow deposit to be made prior to start of meds)
- This is the approximate amount paid to a first time surrogate for a single pregnancy without complications.
- This amount can be significantly higher if you choose an experienced surrogate, if your surrogate must travel to your IVF facility, or if your surrogate must undergo several cycles or miscarriages to achieve a viable pregnancy.
- Additional reimbursements will be required in the case of a multiple pregnancy and/or pregnancy complications resulting in bed rest or hospitalization.

Surrogate Medical Expenses: $0 - $10,000*
(Included in main escrow deposit to be made prior to start of meds)
- You will be responsible for payment of any deductibles, co-pays, cost-shares, or other out-of-pocket expenses for pregnancy and delivery related expenses.
- The surrogate may request reimbursement of monthly insurance premiums in some cases.
Optional Surrogate Maternity Coverage: $5,000 - $60,000
(Paid directly to insurance company)
- Available for purchase in the event you select a surrogate without existing insurance, or a surrogate with existing insurance that excludes surrogacy pregnancy.
- Can also be purchased as a “back-up plan” for surrogates with insurance that is expected to cover surrogacy pregnancy.
